...a country church with a life-giving message!

Expect ...

... friendliness!

If you come into church and it's quiet, you've either come
on the wrong day, the wrong time, somebody died, or you're not in Sand Creek.
Many churches, the people enter and are quiet and worshipful until the service starts.
But at Sand Creek we're glad to see you and we show it.
It might have been a week or more since we've seen you,
and we have to catch up and find out how you are!
We're not disrespectful; we just have a different way
of showing our love and fellowship with our fellow believers.
So if you want your meditative time with God,
we kindly suggest you have it over a cup of coffee at your kitchen table.

... a traditional service!

And not just because we've always done it that way.

We actually prefer the wonderful old hymns and choruses

mixed with the best of the newer songs

preferably played by Marian & Marcia

(sometimes lovingly referred to as M & M).

We had drums once, a long time ago, in a Christmas Cantata.
And if you hear a trumpet - it means Caitlin is in the house,
taking a break from college and gracing us with a solo or
                                   playing along with M & M.
We sometimes have musical groups come in, but not often.
And we love it when someone offers to do special music.
                              It's the message that counts!

Then prepare for a traditional sermon that is, hopefully, both informative and challenging,

which usually lasts from 20 to 30 minutes.

...a convenient time!

Our church service is at 9:30 a.m. -

-till about 10:30 a.m.  - there's time to get home to cook Sunday dinner!

This was the first Sunday back in our remodeled church with Pastor Brad,
so it's not usually so full.

Junior Church - The kids can go down -if they want to- to Junior Church

before the sermon and has been taught by Barb Sell for most of her life it seems.
Your kids don't have to go to Junior Church, but most do once they find out how much fun it is.

Nursery - there is now a nursery provided, usually du You may take your children, 2 and under, up the stairs to the right of the sanctuary facing the front in what was once called the teen room.  (The teens meet downstairs now.)

unless you stay for -

Our Sunday School is at 10:30 or 10:45 a.m. - check the Events Calendar to see there is something special going on:

We usually meet upstairs in the sanctuary for a song, an object lesson, and birthdays and announcement.
          -Currently, we have classes for:
                    >Pre-school thru kindergarten - taught by Chris & Kathy McCallister - starts at 10:30 am

                    >3rd grade thru high school - currently taught by Barb Sell

                    > The teens are now being taught by Pastor Jamie in the basement.

                    >Young adults - taught by Sue & Roy Norton - starts right after church  - starts at 10:30 am
They meet in the Prayer Room (behind the stage).  They are using Beth Moore's series "Jesus the One and Only".

                    >Adults - currently taught by members of the class    - starts at 10:45 am

This was an unusually large class that day.

Children are dismissed about 11:45 directly from their classrooms.

Bible Studies for Men and Women

usually go from about September to May on Wednesday or Thursday nights. (None currently.)

...a dress code!

All we really ask is modesty! - and hopefully, cleanliness!

Because we're just happy to see you!!!

We realize that after a week of wearing dressy clothes to work,
you might want to dress down a little and be comfy.
(Some weeks it is hard to find a single tie in the church.)
But sometimes I feel like dressing up a little -and wearing the dreaded tie
I hated so much when I was a teen (Keith).
                         -and that's OK, too.
And we won't stand for anybody telling our womenfolk how to dress.
               If you're that kind, you're still welcome;
but please keep your opinions to yourself.        Oda in pants.
And if you came in on your Harley:

And if you're a young man in college, we would almost be shocked
if you didn't come to church in shorts, regardless of how cold it was.
and sometimes even a trustee can be found in shorts.

... easy entry!   ...and handicapped accessible!

There are only 2 entry points into our church, so it's hard to go wrong.

     1.  The old entry, directly off the street, is fine if you're getting to church early.
Just go up the stairs, through the prayer room and across the stage.
But you missed the bulletin, so you'll have to go down to the new front doors anyway.
But if you're getting there late, you might be able to shake the minister's hand in the middle of his sermon.
But you can go down the stairs instead, cross through the kitchen and dining area and up to the other entryway.
So you can't really go wrong.

      2.  The new entry  is off the parking lot.  There will be a greeter or greeters to hand you a bulletin
and answer any questions you have.
The new rest rooms are just inside the new entryway.

The church is now handicapped accessible. It was one of the reasons for the remodel.

          1.  There are 2 handicapped parking spots near the new front entryway.
          2.  A ramp leads up to the doors.
          3.  A lift is in the foyer when you get inside to take you up to the sanctuary or down to the dining/kitchen.
The only difference between our lift and a regular elevator is you have to hold the button down for the floor
you're going to until the door opens.
